“More than Instruction, It’s About Developing a Complete Pitcher & Athlete.”
That’s our philosophy in one sentence. Developing complete pitchers & athletes includes improving all the areas scouts/coaches look for as well as changing/improving the mindset.
Instead of you paying $60-$100 dollars for someone to watch your son throw a bullpen, offer suggestions to make their mechanics more complicated, due some tubes and crunches, and wait for the clock to strike the 60 minute mark to end the lesson.
In order to achieve our philosophy, we refer to every lesson as a session. Their is no set amount of time you pay for. Along with mechanical improvements, there is also a focus on strength, conditioning, and nutrition through customized, pitching specific workout programs. We dive into the mental side of things and try to develop our athletes to become students of the game and become their own pitching coach. To develop your child, we need to work all aspect of the game, and are one of the few programs to do so. We try to keep sessions around 60 minutes for scheduling purposes but it is not uncommon to go 90 minutes.
So many pitching coaches out there today are way too focused on the mechanical side and don’t take time into teaching the why’s, what’s, and how’s of the game. Maybe it is because those sort of things are not able to be picked up reading a book or attending a coaching seminar. Pitching is the greatest position in all of sports yet is also one of the least understood. Most observers and even coaches think it’s just about throwing the ball as hard as you can, throwing a curve ball every one and awhile, and leaving it up to the 8 guys behind you. They don’t realize the countless hours of research that pitchers do outside the lines to develop routines and pitch plans to attack hitters. They don’t realize their is intent and reasoning behind every pitch and every location.
Most instruction does not even touch on the strength & condition side of the game, which in our opinion is far more important at this level than mechanics. Functional strength & postural stability is the foundation of pitching and any position in sports. If you have a weak foundation, poor flexibility, and not able to maintain your posture throughout your delivery, you are more prone to injury and unable to advance on the mound, and everyone’s time and money is wasted on your standard “pitching lessons”.
Velocity is compromised with a lack of core strength. Mechanics only offer a small piece of the velocity puzzle, the rest in the strength side. We strive to make our pitchers more dynamic, by making them stronger, more flexible, increasing functional strength, and developing a strong core. Each athletes strength will be assessed through a few tests so we can develop a workout program to improve them and make them more functionally stronger and a more athletic pitcher. We also try to inform them on correct eating choices and learning more about what they are putting in their bodies and how it can affect them.
We work towards our philosophy in every session and to see first hand, please contact us for more information.
